Tangerine Tango....Pantone colour for 2012 and LOVEING IT!!

It is wonderful to have such an amazing burst of colour to lift the greys of the up coming winter, although autumn usually brings orange, this is intense and demands attention.

Tangerine works with blues from turquoise to indigo, as a solid or is amazing as a geometric.  Placement should be as surprising as Tangerine is shocking, like a front door, kitchen stools, a throw cushion, a lamp, inside a cupboard or on your toes.

My latest scheme (above) incorporates the high contrast dramatic injection of Tangerine...this client has amazing style and is very bold... a lot of fun.  The Tangerine will go on an ottoman while the blue geometric will compliment it on cushions.

enjoy, inspire, admire

This week marks the 2012 designEX Sydney.  It is Australia's largest interiors, design and architecture event featuring brands in furniture, textiles, lighting, architecture, bathrooms, appliances and surfaces, and Cohesive By Design was there!
I enjoyed the lighting exhibited, this years pendants are in full swing...
Inspiration came from Radford Furishings with their wallpapered furniture, a real show stopper for me, and Great Dane Furniture who showcased their Raft Table NA2.  As expected from GD beautiful quality, great lines and functional.
I admired the winners story boards of the Dulux Colour Awards 2012 (note to self, must enter 2013).  There was bold, high chroma, high contrast, energetic colour schemes this year, really impressive.  Well done to all who made the wall.
Great show, wish I had more time to wander and enjoy the festivities....look out Melbourne 2013!!

ZigZag

The zig zag or chevron is right on trend!!!  If you haven't seen it you will. 


I have heard it referred to as the new stripe and I almost have to agree, except that the chevron pattern in not a new innovation, it has been in and out of style from about 1800BC.  Its last big statement was in the late 50's and early 60's.

Chevron is a great way to add colour and interest.   It is amazing for most applications from ceramics, fabrics, carpets, wall paper, timber floors, paint, lighting, bedlinen, tiles to just about everything. 

Our minimal pared back world, looking for the perfect neutral to go with the perfect white is invigorated by the massive injections of colour, movement and interest that Chevron brings.
